Book 0193
Being Mortal by Atul Gawande
Donated by John Blanchard, who says...
Atul Gawande helps us think about medicine and how we can approach the end of our lives. His Reith Lectures on BBC Radio in 2015 were on the topic of his book and good to listen too. His earlier book ‘The Checklist Manifesto’ continues to help teams of people work together and do their jobs well. He is an inspiring communicator about matters of great significance.
I chose this as I am of an age where people around me are increasingly succumbing to illness and death. Gatwande’s study is unflinching, informed, humane and ultimately uplifting. Inspirational.
